Winter Warmers

Winter is the perfect time for treatments. So how can we make it rain when it starts to rain?

Enticing your clients to leave their homes, travel through the wet season and enter into your business during the cooler months is something the beauty industry struggles with. Often instead of having a seasonal treatment menu, our businesses discount and offer specials to draw clients into our business. A few subtle steps to encourage clients into your treatment beds and out of theirs will see your cashflow thrive through the Winter season.

Invest in heating

This seems like the most simple step to enticing clients into your business, but I'm sure we've all had that massage in a business that had inadequate heating. Stripping down to your bottoms only to start shivering before your treatment has begun or the spray tan machine starts blowig freezing cold solution at you is not a pleasent experience. Be ware of oil heaters as rhey cost an arm and a leg to run and don't do a great job at heating large areas.

Heat your bedding

Electric blankets on beds are heaven. Snuggling into a heated bed with a plush doona is like being back in the womb. Warm, cocooned and snug as a bug in a rug. Need I say more?

Blankets, blankets, blankets

And more blankets. Draping your clients, especially during massage and body treatments, is an absolute must. Areas that aren't exposed should be cocooned with blankets and areas that are exposed should be covered when not being treated.

Heated hands and oils

Ensure therapists run their hands under warm water or on a warm towel before touching clients, to take the chill off their hands. Where possible oils, masks and clays should be gently heated before use. Use large ceremic jugs to heat oils and hot towel warmers warmers for clays and masks.

Magic touches

These are special moments during the treatment that makes the experience magic! Hot stones mid massage, wheat packs on tummies, warm jade rollers on the face and exothermic thermal masks are all divine on a cold Winter's day.

Burn warming essential oils such as black pepper, cardamon, clove bud, ginger, juniper berry, marjoram and rosemary to create warmth without heat, and keep the immune system strong.
