DECEMBER
With hindsight comes learning. The chance to reflect on what we were doing and what was in our orbit that wasn’t able to be seen at the time. This too provides space for critical thinking of ways in which we move forward in similar situations.
Self, wealth, team, family, friends, business and behavior. Who are we when our life crutches, busy lifestyles are isolated to four walls and time is moving more slowly than ever before? But then, the world opens, waitlists are being booked and the next thing we know, busy as a badge of honour is back and balance is, well, non-existent.
Being honest with exhaustion is the key to prevention. If taking a look at your upcoming calendar makes you feel slightly nervous, then it’s time to get realistic about how much we are committing to. It’s okay to say no – or even not right now. We’ve spent almost no time with others in such a long time that to suddenly be surrounded by people can be exhausting in itself. Being social is not easy when you’ve been socially distant.
Our contributors this month, Iman Davamoni of Purely Polished, Rohani Osman of Super Rad Nail Sisters, Mandy Jeffery of Fox Cosmetics and Jodie Watkins of Graft-A-Lash know all too well that being a business owner requires some boundary setting. They’ve been honest in sharing that they’ve not yet perfected the act of balance, however they’re working their way through those hurdles and have some lessons of their own to share.
Two stunning pieces of advice come through the words of Makayla Herdman, who’s incredible #IndividualBeautyMovement image graces the cover of this issue, encourages us to stop spending time editing and filtering our faces, bodies and skin while Mala McAlpin provides us with some practical tips that therapists are sure to love via the way of conscious movement.
The month of December lends itself to late nights, early mornings, coffee, Christmas and celebrations, and with that we hope you spend some time being conscious of your energy, your ability to laugh again and be with your loved ones.
We hope you enjoy the read!
