Last night, Sunday the 18th October, the professional beauty industry came together physically and virtually to celebrate the annual Australian Beauty Industry Awards, this year combined with the Australian Make-up Artist Awards. Like many of our industry events this year, the gala festivities were pushed back from their initial August event date, shortly before announcing the shift to virtual several weeks ago. But that wasn’t going to stop our incredible community of beauty and spa therapists, makeup and tattoo artists, aesthetic practitioners, dermal therapists and educators around the country from pulling together and celebrating what is usually the biggest night of our social calendars. The event was streamed live and free from ABIA’s Facebook and Youtube pages, and practitioners either celebrated in solo or came together from their businesses or living room with cocktails in hand, seated dinners or insta-worthy grazing platters alike. And from what we saw, nobody missed the opportunity to frock up and celebrate in style!

“We know how much the beauty industry look forward to this event and with our team putting so much time behind the scenes to make them incredible, this was a tough call,” said Linda Woodhead, Owner of Mocha Publishing. “But it was also the right one. However, we wanted to be certain that although we couldn’t gather and enjoy champagne cheers in person, that there would still be this vital platform for the industry. Our beauty and make-up landscape is diverse and resilient and I am so incredibly proud of this year’s worthy finalists and winners.”
We wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate all of this year’s winners, and to share how proud, grateful and humbled to be part of an industry that despite unimaginable adversity this year, still managed to pull together, pop on a gorgeous frock, and celebrate their team and their successes to date – even simply in front of a screen.
