After a great deal of anticipation, Aspect Skincare launched its very first collection of cosmetics last week – the Aspect Minerals range. The line of mineral makeup, which practitioners have eagerly been awaiting since the brand began teasers on social media (plus a sneak peek presentation at Beaute Industrie’s Strategy Summit in January!) pairs perfectly both standalone and alongside any Aspect skincare regime.

Established in 2007 in Melbourne, Aspect is a thriving cosmeceutical skincare brand proudly used by some of the top skin-focussed and aesthetic clinics around the country. This is the brand’s first venture into cosmetics, with the new products formulated to provide skin-loving benefits that won’t undo all of the good work carried out by your clients’ quality cosmeceutical skincare – something often experienced by many clients utilising makeup that is comedogenic, artificially-fragranced, contain parabens, talc, and the like.

The Aspect Minerals range is formulated with an ultra-fine blend of minerals that provide a flawless base and environmental protection. They blend effortlessly to colour-correct and diffuse imperfections, providing buildable coverage for the ultimate glow. The new range current has 5 products on offer:

Aspect Minerals Primer – a satin-smooth primer that locks in moisture and prepares the skin for the application of your products. Contains a non-greasy silicone blend that locks in moisture providing a smooth finish, plus Vitamin E for its soothing antioxidant properties. RRP $49.00

Aspect Minerals Powder – A loose mineral powder foundation that diffuses the appearance of redness and discolouration. Provides sheer to medium coverage that is coverage, with a flawless matte finish. RRP $59.00

Aspect Minerals LiquidA liquid mineral foundation that evens out skin tone with a light to medium buildable coverage. Contains a number of potent antioxidants and hydrators, it both protects and quenches the skin giving a glow complexion and a skin treatment in one. RRP $59.00

Aspect Minerals KABUKI – This Kabuki brush features soft, thick bristles that sweep up your Aspect Minerals powder and disperses it evenly for a flawless product application that is super easy to build upon. RRP $30.00

Truly designed to act as an extension of your clients’ skincare regimen, here are some things you may not know about the hero ingredients behind the Aspect Minerals range:

Zinc oxide: the most popular physical sunscreen agent, protecting from UVA and UVB by creating a kind of physical shield over the skin that light bounces off. Zinc also has multi-beneficial properties, acting as an anti-inflammatory agent in order to calm skin and better facilitate healing. For this reason, it is ideal for skins with rosacea, eczema, sensitivity, or other redness conditions.

Titanium dioxide: another powerful physical sun protector, and completely natural mineral ingredient. It’s safe, stable and non-irritating. What’s not to love?

Mica: another completely natural mineral, extremely widely used but not often known or understood. This humble shiny rock has a beautiful iridescent quality to it that is frequently used to give cosmetics their sheen – no need for synthetic shimmer. When used in foundation it offers a lovely glowing quality that reflects light in just the right way in order to illuminate skin without looking shiny.

Hyaluronic acid: that’s right, the Aspect Minerals range includes our favourite hydrating agent, helping with moisture retention while also helping to reduce transepidermal water loss.

Aspect’s Signature Blend of skin-loving Australian botanicals – this concoction is utilised throughout a number of Aspect skincare products, helping to revitalising and nourishing the skin. The superfood complex combines Davidson Plum, Mountain (Tasman) Pepper Berry Extract and Kakadu Plum, all extremely rich in vitamins and antioxidants that re-energise, brighten, even and smooth the complexion, as well as offering powerful antioxidant protection to prevent free radical damage.

We can see just why the range has already caused such a stir with stockists and non-stockist practitioners alike. While the professional skincare market is absolutely saturated, there simply aren’t a huge number of professional makeup ranges on the shelves that double as skincare, that benefit one’s regime instead of detrimenting it, and can be worn not just to cover redness but facilitate better healing after in-clinic treatments such as peels, needling, or laser. As always, we can’t wait to see the continued evolution of our industry as the products on the market continue to get better and better and boast even more multi-functional benefits than ever.
